Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at NAS Patuxent River / NRC Solomons has announced Myron "Roadhouse" Nelson as Employee of the Quarter and Melissa Smith as Supervisor of the Quarter for the first quarter of FY2025.
Nelson is a bartender at NAS Patuxent River's Flight Deck Lounge. He also covers shifts as needed at the Auto Skills Center, which has helped with the center's newly expanded hours of operation and when employees are on leave, according to supervisor John Malinowski, Cedar Point Golf Course general manager.
“His attitude and personality help to bring back regular customers and ease the nerves of those running events at the Flight Deck Lounge. He is asked for by name from customers when booking events and parties," Malinowski said.
Smith is a custodial worker supervisor at NRC Solomons. She leads the houskeeping staff in the daily cleanliness of over 50 lodging units as well as Club 9, a day-use rental facility.
According to NRC Solomons Facilities Director Adaryll Ferguson, Nelson and her team ensure that all of the rental units are cleaned "in collaboration with our maintenance department to ensure our lodging rentals at NRC Solomons are maintained at the highest level of habitability."
