Drill Hall will be open (BY RESERVATIONS ONLY) to Active Duty Military and their dependents.

Reservations are required to utilize the facility.




As of April 2, 2021:

Face masks waiver approved to be removed during the following activities:

  • Utilizing any cardio equipment (treadmill, rower, elliptical, bikes, ski ergs)
  • Jump rope, boxing workouts, running laps, sled pushes

Masks must still be worn during STRENGTH TRAINING / WEIGHT LIFTING / FREE WEIGHT MOVEMENTS as well as transitioning through the facility or during rest periods between activities.

Monday - Friday 5 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sundays CLOSED
Holidays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
All fitness is for Active duty members and their dependents.
Reservations are required.
Moderate exercise only.
No physical contact with work out partner/No spotters.
Mask must be worn when not exercising and for entrance to facilities.
No showers available.
No drinking from the water fountain. Bring your own water. Bottle refill is available to be used only at fountains.
No locker use.
No towel service.
No Volleyball.
No Basketball.
No Racquetball.
No contact sports. Individual exercise only.
Outside Exercise is available at both the turf fields. Trail/track are also available. ALL are eligible.
Reservations are required and will be available for up to 3 days before the exercise date. Reservation times are at the top of each hour.
6 – 6:45 a.m. EXERCISE, 6:45 – 7 a.m. EXIT FACILITY.
7 – 7:45 a.m. EXERCISE, 7:45 – 8 a.m. EXIT FACILITY.
Repeat for each hour opened. Mandatory exit after each 45-minute session. If late for the reserved time, that will shorten your workout time. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The last 15mins of every hour are utilized for cleaning and sanitizing commonly touched items.
We will allow up to 125 patrons per hour in the facility at each hour.

You may register using your Navy email or a personal email. You will have to fill in eligibility status. Pick one and complete the registration.

The facility is open to all ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND DEPENDENTS only.

The Drill Hall is the center of indoor recreation at Patuxent River. The complex is located behind the Tickets & Travel Office on Cedar Point Road. All of the facilities located in the Drill Hall are staffed by recreation specialists ready to assist patrons. Staff members also serve as valuable sources of information pertaining to recreation at Patuxent River.

The Drill Hall floor is dominated by three basketball courts and another full-sized, NCAA regulation basketball court, one full-sized regulation volleyball court, and two full-sized regulation racquetball courts.

The Fitness Centers and Gyms at NAS Patuxent River are available for all individuals with base access. Military personnel, DoD Civilian employees, and family members may use the facilities in the Drill Hall at no charge. Contract employees must purchase an MWR membership to enter the Drill Hall.

Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System is an evidence-based performance tool that addresses injury prevention by physically training operational job movement patterns. Rather than focusing specifically on the physical readiness test (PRT), NOFFS emphasizes how to specifically improve the functional performance of a Sailor during daily operations including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, aerobic/anaerobic demands, body movement skills with balance, agility and coordination.

Additionally, NOFFS provides foundational and performance nutrition guidance. The purpose of NOFFS is to meet the operational, physical and fueling demands of Sailors in order to remain ready for the missions of today's Navy. Click here to download the NOFFS brochure.

Moms on the Move (Dads welcome too!)
Finally, a fitness workout for stay-at-home-parents! Join us in the Drill Hall on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for a great workout! This FREE 60-minute class will include cardio training, strength work, and flexibility. Formats will include circuit training, boot camp workouts, and more!  Kids are welcome, but you are responsible for them at all times.

Weekly Hit Training
Every Wednesday at 4 p.m., we will be holding a weekly high-intensity training (HIT) workout. The workout of the week (WOW) will be posted in the Drill Hall.
