Thordson is the equipment mechanic at NAS Patuxent River’s Cedar Point Golf Course. According to golf course Superintendent David Burkhart, Thordson, who started working in January, quickly assimilated to his new position and completed all preventative equipment maintenance despite a delay in his hiring date. He has also taken over other tasks as needed due to staff shortages and helped the course
complete aerification in record time.
“He has been a welcome addition to the golf team and an excellent source while considering new equipment purchases,” Burkhart said.
Dixon is a custodial worker lead for the NRC Solomons Housekeeping Department. She leads a team of six housekeepers responsible for the daily cleanliness of 51 lodging units as well as Club 9, a day-use rental facility.
According to NRC Solomons Facilities Director Adaryll Ferguson, Dixon’s team, although short-staffed, “is
extremely upbeat and self-motivated, which speaks directly to Ashley Dixon’s leadership. She is a ‘working’ manager who jumps head first into her role and teaches by showing and, most importantly, leads by example.”
