Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at NAS Patuxent River / NRC Solomons has announced Kathryn “Danielle” Mandrell as Employee of the Quarter and Melissa Daugherty as Supervisor of the Quarter for the second quarter of FY2024.
Mandrell is a Community Recreation assistant at NAS Patuxent River’s Community Recreation Office. According to her manager, Darcy Cunningham, Mandrell “consistently goes above and beyond to support her peers and customers with her engaged and proactive approach. She understands the mission in a way few others can as a military spouse and team member who can lend her experience via an active pulse and insight.”
Mandrell was instrumental in the recent sales success of the high-demand Savannah Bananas special-release tickets and nearly single-handedly sold over 400 tickets over the course of 72 hours and just shy of $27,000 in vacation packages.
Daugherty is a management analyst for MWR. She was nominated by NRC Solomons Site Director Carrie Jay-Root, who said Daugherty “plays a key role in the entirety of the MWR daily operations and seamlessly ensures that support is always provided via timely requests/response and facilitation of all that her position encompasses.”
“In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, she is always there to lend a helping hand. Whether making cookies for a Community Recreation event or transporting food and beverage needs to the Flight Deck Lounge, she is unflappable and a cheerleader for us all,” Jay-Root said.
